Artist statement

I intentionally stay away from hinting at any figurative elements in my work, especially at the beginning. For me, each color has its own ‘space’ and so I try to avoid forcing too many into a single painting. I love texture as it helps me ‘resolve’ the technical challenges in my work. I guess in the back of my head there is an ever-present golden trinity between color, composition and texture, and sometimes (or often) one dominates the others. That domination I think is ‘healthy’ and so I allow it to manifest itself constantly and unconsciously until I feel it balance.
