Artist statement

I want to express light and atmosphere in my paintings, I want to invoke a strong emotional reaction and I want the viewer to be drawn into the work. Many years ago I went to the Rothko room at the Tate Modern in London, I sat alone in the gallery being enveloped by his work; they invoked such a strong emotional pull.  This is the reaction I would like to create with my art practice.
