Art Aviso Event 2023.2

Title: Chandelier

Art Aviso would like to invite our Artist subscribers to be part of ‘Chandelier’ an evolving global art installation project, exploring the themes of excess, decadence, overuse, and wastefulness by the collective construction of a ‘chandelier’ made by connecting small three-dimensional artworks into a hanging installation artwork. The artworks should be constructed from reclaimed and repurposed materials. The artworks should be either black or white or metallic or transparent in nature and be no large than 20cm in diameter.

This will be an ongoing project and the ‘Chandelier’ will continue to increase in size and significance. It will be exhibited as a suspended art installation, in different iterations in different parts of the globe.

Description

Chandeliers have been used for centuries as a symbol of luxury and elegance in homes and public buildings of significance. Early Chandeliers were made of wood or iron but over time chandeliers became more elaborate and were constructed of more decadent materials, precious metals, glass, mirrors or adorned with reflective crystals. Originally used to illuminate castles and palaces chandeliers eventually became included in grand homes as symbols of wealth and status.

Entries open to: current Art Aviso subscribers with a complete Artist profile at the time of submission and exhibition.

Entry requirements and conditions

We provide a long submission window to encourage the creation of new works. Artwork selected for inclusion in ‘Chandelier’ should be of a size and weight that it is able to be easily transported and suspended from a height. It should include a hook or hanging point to be attached to the ‘Chandelier’.

All successful submitting artists will be invited to offer their artwork for sale, the Gallery (SOL Gallery) will apply a commission on sales of 25%. There is no cost for the artists to submit or exhibit artwork, but Artists are responsible for the delivery and return postage costs. We hope the removal of Gallery fees and low commission further encourages experimentation and innovation in each artist’s creative practice and encourages artistic excellence.

All artworks created by Art Aviso subscribers and fitting the brief with be exhibited.

Entrants must warrant that their entries are their original work. They must be the sole copyright holder and intellectual property owner of their entries in accordance with Australian and International law and warrant that any intellectual property rights and moral rights of a third party have not been infringed. Intellectual property rights in entries remain with the entrant as the copyright owner. It is a condition of entry that the entrant grants to Art Aviso and the member Gallery licence to use, publicly display, publicise, reproduce the entry or part of an entry, including in electronic form and broadcast, for publicity, promotional, educational, and administrative purposes associated with the Art Aviso Event 2023.2

Once work has been delivered to the Art Aviso/the Gallery it will fall under the exhibition Terms and conditions of SOL Gallery and Art Aviso.

Delivery of Artwork

Artists will be responsible for the postage of artwork to an Australian post box.

Artists are responsible for any costs associated with the transport/postage of artwork to the Art Aviso PO Box including insurance.
