An exploration of place, space and belonging.

Place and space are interconnected concepts that are essential to the understanding of how humans interact with the environment. These concepts are also deeply connected to identity and a sense of belonging.

Art Aviso invites Art Aviso Artist subscribers to use an artwork and the creative process as a ‘Compass’ to navigate this theme.

Entries open to: current Art Aviso subscribers with a complete Artist profile at the time of submission and exhibition.

Entry requirements and conditions

We provide a 3-month submission window to encourage the creation of new works. Artwork selected for inclusion in ‘Compass’ should address the theme and can be entirely new work, work in progress or further development of an existing body of work. All mediums are encouraged.

All successful submitting artists will be invited to offer their artwork for sale, the Gallery (No Vacancy) with apply a commission on sales of 15%. There is no cost for the artists to submit or exhibit artwork if their submission is successful. We hope the removal of Gallery fees and low commission further encourages experimentation and innovation in each artist’s creative practice and encourages artistic excellence.

Current Art Aviso subscribers are invited to submit an artwork or body of work for consideration addressing the theme ‘Compass’ - space, place and belonging. Artwork can be complete or a work/works in progress. If the artist is submitting work in progress the submitting artist must include sufficient support material.

To submit your entry – first ensure that your Art Aviso profile is complete and includes work relevant to your submission.

Selection of Artwork will be made by Art Aviso, No Vacancy Gallery and emerging curator/s. All Art Aviso Artists are encouraged to apply, however not all entries will be successful.

Entrants must warrant that their entries are their original work. They must be the sole copyright holder and intellectual property owner of their entries in accordance with Australian and International law and warrant that any intellectual property rights and moral rights of a third party have not been infringed. Intellectual property rights in entries remain with the entrant as the copyright owner. It is a condition of entry that the entrant grants to Art Aviso and the member Gallery licence to use, publicly display, publicise, reproduce the entry or part of an entry, including in electronic form and broadcast, for publicity, promotional, educational, and administrative purposes associated with the Art Aviso Event 2023.1

Once work has been delivered to the Gallery it will fall under the exhibition Terms and conditions of No Vacancy gallery and Art Aviso.

Delivery of Artwork

Artists will be responsible for the delivery of artwork to the exhibition venue (or as otherwise arranged) and the collection of an unsold artwork within 7 days of the end the exhibition

Artists are responsible for any costs associated with the transport of artwork to the exhibition venue, including insurance.
