Loss, to me, is a place of darkness. Triumph is light and hope. I have represented loss on one side and triumph on the other. The centre-piece,being the tree, represents the middle area between such things. It holds the ground with strength, maintaining it’s roots. The shield and arrows represent struggle, resistance and fortitude.
Born and raised in Papua New Guinea, but also consider New Zealand and Australia my home. I graduated in NZ with a Diploma of painting in 2000, and studied further in Australia receiving an Advanced Diploma, working in sculpture, 2015. I have been producing art professionally since 2000. These days I generally sculpt using natures discards such as seedpods, bark, branches and human-made disposables. I still like to paint, and entered this project, because telling stories through art is what I love to do. I now live in Melbourne.
