Artist statement

Amy Caterina is an artist living in Southern California, who spends her days fawning over her prize-winning wiener dog Walter, growing her Mohawk, and teaching the Youth of America. If you ever need a photograph of an out of focus desert suburbia or a giant post-apocalyptic cupcake bunker she’s your gal. Amy received her BFA in Photography from Buffalo State College and her MFA in Photography from CSU Fullerton. She is now a tenured professor of Photography at Palomar College. She is an Adobe Education and Campus Leader and is Adobe Certified Associate.

Amy’s goal for her students is to see her both as a guide and a practicing artist. She has participated in winter and summer residencies at The Fish Factory in Iceland. The photographs were exhibited at the Photographer’s Eye Collective in a two-person show titled “Northern Lands” and the “Size Matters” group exhibition at the Medium Photography festival in San Diego.

And her fiber art, created with the L.A. Yarn Bombers, is currently on display at LAX in the international arrival terminal. Her current projects include fiber and photographic collaborations with Beatrice Maglottti from Australia and a small book publication of her new topographic landscapes.
