Artist statement

My work is an expression of my lived experience in the world; it is my preferred communication, my heartfelt responses and my visceral expression of my place in the world.                        

I work predominantly on paper using watercolour, inks and collage as well as monoprinting and collograph techniques. I am inspired by the layering of colour and tone inherent in contemporary printmaking; I am guided by an organic process of making an artwork that is very much about the experience itself. My work often explores light and dark, reality and shadow, spirit and soul.                                                                                                                                                      

I make art because I always have; I don't know life without it. My art communicates the connection of humanity, of evocation, of reaction and response to being part of a greater cosmos.  I am interested in being part of exhibitions that explore sense of place, reciprocity and connection, in all it's complexities; as well as ideas that explore the fragility and robustness of the natural world.
