Artist statement

I am a fibre artist who loves working with the tactility of fibres such as wool and silk, and the natural environment through plant dyes, found objects, and processes such as oxidation. I am fascinated with the sculptural possibilities of fibres when felted and manipulated. I let the materials communicate with me, and in dialogue we co-create organic works that transcend the stereotypes of fibre and textile. Surface, shape and scale are all elements that I explore especially in felt which transforms dramatically under the hand of the artist.

As an emerging artist, I have been exhibiting in group shows, including untethered fibre artists inc. for the past five years, and I am now increasing my participation in group exhibitions, prizes and residencies.

I experienced my first artist residency in April 2019 at Curtin Springs station in central Australia. This inspiring and uplifting opportunity has led to a joint exhibition in 2020 with the artist Heather Matthew, who was also on the residency with me.

In 2020, I will be tutoring more workshops in fibre arts, and pursuing more opportunities for this, as well as growing my workshop events business, Arts Muster.

My personal goal for 2020 is to develop works for a solo show.
