Art Aviso event 9.0 – Door to Door Europe (Art in the time of COVID-19).

SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW CLOSED

Description

Art Aviso in Collaboration with our Gallery partner LiTE-HAUS Galerie, Berlin, would like to invite Art Aviso Artist subscribers based in the UK and Europe to be part of Art Aviso event 9.0 – Door to Door (Art in the time of COVID-19).

Read about Art Aviso Artist subscriptions HERE

This is a sister project to the Australian Door-to-Door project that commenced in March 2020. You can view the evolving virtual exhibition associated with this project HERE

Artists will be supplied by email with a page from Newnes’ Pictorial Knowledge 1950’s Encyclopedia (Edited by Enid Blyton) selected at random, which will form the basis of an artwork to be exhibited at some time in the not too distant future. Artworks should be created on paper of A4 size (21×29.7cm) and should remain unframed. Artworks can be created in any accompanying medium and should reference the page from the encyclopedia in any way the Artist wishes to use it.

The page that is provided to the Artist will be the same page that was provide to an Australian Artist during lockdown, due to the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic.

The finished Artworks will form a physical exhibition in Berlin in June 2022

Coinciding with the physical exhibition the artworks will also form a virtual exhibition, where the European Artists work will be exhibited alongside the work of the Australian Artist, who was supplied the same page from the Pictorial Encyclopedia for inspiration. In this way we can gain some understanding of the different experience of these challenging times from Artists on 2 separate continents.

The A4 artwork can also act as a placeholder in the exhibition with a link or QR code to transport the viewer to another artwork, performance, video art, written work, spoken word or large scale installation that exists somewhere else.

Artists are the storytellers of the sometimes, intangible very human response to our world and creating art during these times is more important than ever.
