The shape of the board influenced the subject matter with this work. Portrait miniatures, peaking in popularity from the 16th to the 18th century, were often round or oval in shape. Adopting the concept of the portrait miniature ushered me down the path of painting an old fashioned lace outfit and hairstyle to match. This acrylic painting is done on a patchwork of handmade Japanese paper including paper embedded with leaves.
